Grenzmedial, was founded by Roland Thurner and Stefan Klotz. They both grew up in the same town in Austria and know each other since they were 6 years old. Roland and Stefan were already playing together in a rock band for some years, before they decided to start producing electronic music in 2004.

In the last few years grenzmedial created a unique new style of psychedelic trance music, which is influenced by both, full on psy-trance and progressive trance. Their music is varied, melodious and has 145 bpm. It ranges from aggressive progressive beats to melodic Israeli style trance parts.

In 2005 grenzmedial added a new medial dimension to their working field. ‘The drug of the future is not a substance, but a multimedia experience that stimulates all senses equally’ so their website stated. They started producing their own psychedelic video clips and visuals. In 2007 they founded their own label Infraschall Records. Their debut album, which includes a CD and DVD, is out on September the 3rd 2007.

Tell us about your new stuff and why people shouldn’t miss it? Did you think it is something different, or would you think it should be named in a row with others? How would you define your style of music?
Grenzmedial has got a unique style. We are different. There is no song that sounds like a song you heard before from another artist. In combination with our videos and visual we generated a digital drug.

Did you think copying kills music – or did file sharing makes the artist famous? What has been you experience with p2p and track-swapping?
I think specially in the electronic music scene copying and p2p leads to much loss of profit. We try to compensate this effect, by adding a DVD to our CD. All in all our album has a size of about 4,2 GB. On the other hand we sell both CD+DVD for the price of a CD, whereas other labels get 30 Eur for a DVD. We hope this album is not shared that much in the Internet because of its size, and people buy it, because it is not expensive. People out there: Buy more CD’s!!!

Where do you see yourself in 5/10/20 years? Where do you see our scene in the future?
I think the scene is growing and getting more and more known and commercial. In

10 years they will use psytrance in tv-commercials and play it on mtv.

Your definition of luck & satisfaction? Maybe anything to tell about ‘sex, drugs and rock’n’roll’?
Sex is wonderful, drugs are dangerous and music is the most important thing in my life!
