Tribal Gathering

Panama
Playa Chiquita

Once a year 60 tribes from 30 countries come together to share their knowledge with the global psychedelic community.

Tribal Gathering

Tribal Gathering is like no other event on Earth. It is more than a psychedelic music festival, it is a place for the world to come together, where time is transcended, ancient and modern converge in symbiotic harmony, indigenous tribes share their precious ancestral wisdom as musicians call on the ethos of imagination. Interfaith dialogue blends with a rich ancestral heritage of sacred ceremonies, holistic wellness, evolutionary creativity, environmental protection, alternative cultures, active participation, awareness & love. Ultimately, it is where we welcome the divine spirit of dance in union with Mother Earth. Tribal Gathering is a meeting point for indigenous communities from all over the world. It is a gathering of tribes, from the past and present, the global transformational tribe and whoever feels the call of the ocean and the jungle to join in the cosmic celebration of the magic of life. At the heart of Tribal Gathering is Sound. From the ancient beat of the drums to the electronic rhythms of the finest Psychedelic Trance music, with everything in between from Cumbia, Overtone Singing, World music from all over (literally all continents!), Drum & Bass, Reggae, Dub, PsyDub, Downtempo, Ambient, Chillout… you name it! With 4 unique musical scenes and hundreds of musicians & DJ’s from around the world – you’re in for an Ecstatic treat!

Since 2013, GeoParadise (501©3 Public Charity) annually organizes a one-of-a-kind international eco-cultural musical – Tribal Gathering, which represents by far its most remarkable charitable activity, where 60 native tribes from nearly 40 countries come together to share their knowledge with each other and the world. During 16 days, tribes, musicians, performers, artists, teachers, activists & travelers from all over the world gather together under the full moon of February-March to honor life in a pristine jungle Caribbean paradise on the North coast of Panama.
It features more than 200 workshops and lectures ranging from indigenous knowledge, ecology, sustainability, healing arts and more, a dedicated wellness area with a wide-ranging choice of ancestral and new-age healing modalities, a circus area with performers that will blow your mind, and not forgetting a beautiful lush vibrant Caribbean jungle coast to enjoy the beauty of being alive. Tribal Gathering is a transformative learning journey from the ancient to the modern and always back to the present. It has grown to be one of the world’s most important indigenous cultural celebrations, and is surely the most diverse on Earth.

But things don’t stop here! With the donations collected from Tribal Gathering participants, GeoParadise runs outreach programs throughout the year with the tribes in attendance and the local community. Tribal Gathering is also a cooperative platform where projects are inspired and we all get the chance to involve ourselves in this creative process.

Once a year 60 tribes from 30 countries come together to share their knowledge with the global psychedelic community. Tribal Gathering is so much more than a music festival. It’s 18 day’s on a Caribbean beach, around 200 workshops hundreds of musicians from around the world, a learning journey from the ancient to the modern and a charity with all profits going to the attending tribes.

Coming from twenty countries or more, indigenous tribes, shaman, musicians, artists, teachers and attendees from over forty countries will gather together for one of the worlds most important indigenous cultural celebrations. Spanning 18 days on an amazing beach in the Caribbean, Tribal Gathering melds the ancient and modern, providing a space for discourse, ceremony and fun.

The first half is dedicated to the tribes and their shaman with several zones offering workshops, ceremonies and indigenous music. Slowly the pace picks up and we seemingly travel through time to the finale of five days of electronic music and what might be described as our modern rituals of dance, art and creativity.

Things don’t stop there, Tribal Gathering is a fundraising event for our public charity Geoparadise, the money we raise funds numerous projects throughout the year with the tribes in attendance. It is also a platform where projects are created and we all get the chance to involve ourselves in this process. The profits from every cent you spend at Tribal Gathering, from your entry ticket to money spent at the bars and our restaurant go towards these projects. Without your contribution none of this would be possible so, thank you!

"Music... is the sound of the order and the chaos. Its like a code, like an energetic code. We can say that music is strangely even a mystery to people that make it - It is in a sense kind of a piece of magic. You have your heart and it has its rhythm, it has its beat."

Since archaic times, our ancestors would gather around a fire, clap their hands, beat the drum, and dance. Some indigenous communities use dancing as collective medicine for the community. They would gather and dance to release all that no longer serve them, all tensions and ills. It's no surprise they don't have words for concepts such as anxiety or depression.
In other tribes it's used as a sacred ceremony which has been going on for thousands of years.
Take for example the San Bushmen of the Kalahari desert. The Kalahari Bushmen’s trance dance is their most mysterious element. It’s a ritual in which a state of altered consciousness is achieved through rhythmic dancing and intense breathing. They call it a healing dance. During trance dances, which can last all night, the Bushmen believe they become imbued with animal potency and enter a spiritual realm where they can contact God, fight evil spirits, gain healing powers, and see visions.
The Maori of New Zealand dance to connect to the ancestors and embody their full potential here and now. In India, dancing is a means to embody archetypes of the gods. In Tibet, its used as a practice of contemplation for the benefit of all beings. In Persia, Sufism developed around swirling and dancing in ecstasy of absolute love.

And it all started with sound, with music.

Music is everywhere in nature, in the wind, in water, in fire, in our bodies. It's part of us and it is us. We are music and life is about learning how to dance with presence and rhythm.

And that's why every year, 60 indigenous tribes from all over the world as well as the global tribe gather on a Caribbean paradise jungle beach. Join us.
