A fabulous interview with LOUD
Self-Portrait: Paint your soul!
What influenced you to get into your field?
Kobi: Music.
Eitan: Probably the feedback you get from people. when I was young I loved seeing people enjoy my art, weather its music or paintings I did
K : I see us as people who come to give people a kind of musical experience
E : Mainly showing people that dreams are not just dreams but they can be reality. I hope to set an example and show that’s it’s not so risky to go after your heart
Creating on a regular basis can be a bloody tough job, so what motivates you to press yourself into the workstation every single day?
K : Listen to different kind of music, explore new plug in or synth , hung out with good friends
E : Haha , for me not creating is hard. It’s like the need to pee I have to let it out every day or I feel bad . however being true to yourself and digging into your soul – that’s the harder part.
Do you get nervous before a performance?
K : Always but in a good way … Today we depend technology like we have not been before, so there is always a fear that something will not work as it should, or the computer simply stops working.
E : Always like it’s the 1st time, especially when new tracks are being played for 1st tie. I like it though
What’s the story behind your artist name and project?
K : There is no story really just 2 guys that are trying to express something
E : – LOUD – we wanted to be simple and to the point . one word that sais a lot. Also I believe we wanted to be heard . . LOUD was just perfect .Eitan Reiter is just my name…and it actually is good for the project cause the solo project is all about NO MASKS and forcing myself to do only things I feel are 100 % me .
What other genres of music do you listen to? Name your influences.
K : Dj shadow Kendric lamar, Boards of Canada and I can go for hours ….
E : ANYTHING and Everything . I have a weakness for oldschool hip hop and trip hop too, something about the warm trashy sound, the low frequencies, the rappers, singers and their stories, the fact that the music had a message that came from a truth, and of course – the groove !
Has the process of making music transformed you? In what way?
K : For me I learn to be more patient and understanding about many things in life .
E : It made me dig deeper into myself and think about who I am and what my actions are , music can be a mirror to the artist . I feel that if I am for example not a good father I cannot be open in the studio completely cause I have something that I kind of hide from myself… that I am not comfortable with , I hope that makes sense. Anyway I hope it makes me a better and kinder person
What is your muse? What inspires you? Tell us about your favourite piece of music, and the source that inspired it.
K : There is no one things that get u Muse … muse is everywhere u just need to pay attention and receive it . Can be in outside ambiance chat with a friend or a song from the radio about the piece of music for me now it’s the new kendric lamar album (Pimp a butterfly)I found everything that I need in this album .
E : Cant really choose a favourite, the best ones came usually after really inspiring moments in life , its important to live . making music is not just sitting in the studio. What are u gonna write about if u got no stories ???
What’s your biggest temptation or vice, what can you not resist?
K : My 2 little nephews Good food analogue synth and new pedal effect
E : I don’t have that , I work really hard on myself when it comes to not being depended on anything and not needing anything in a way I can’t resist
Face-off: Let’s get the grits on the table
What quality do you admire the most in others? What quality do you like about yourself the most?
K : It’s hard for me to talk about my self but what I admire in other ppl is innovation and creativity
E : In others – I love how people are interested about others and talk, I feel some artists for example are more about themselves ( I feel I am to much like that to sometimes ) . I do like about myself the fact that I am judging myself everyday and trying to improve
K : The first 2/3 years was the hardest for me financially….
E : the years after I decided to make music and live from it . I did not want any job , I wanted to be a musician so I make my dream come true in one day , just by building a studio and deciding , that’s what I am going to do now ! now it was time to see how money will come from this decision . . anyway it was a bit scary and hard maybe , but sooo much fun !!!
Any embarrassing/funny moments? Yes, you’d hate to disclose your secrets but we’d love to hear.
K : well if I look back in one of our tour in Mexico we had bad taco right we finished our set both of us Well the rest of the story is not so nice that we had another gig after this bad taco
E : nothing really comes to mind at the moment . . .sorry
When have you been most satisfied in your life? Care to share one of your happiest memories?
K : BOOM 2014
E : When my daughter was born, getting married, the show in boom festival , to many good ones 😉
Everyone starts somewhere, what was your first job before you got into music?
K : As a kid before the army I was working in a bar as a dishwasher and after that I start to cook in the same bar.
E : I was painting on walls at bars , restaurants and wherever. Basically started my own business when I was 16 and it was ART ! income from my drawings . . . I have never worked in anything other that art .
Flash-forward in time. You are now really old. What would you tell your children/loved ones?
K : Try to leave your life to the fullest and don’t let fear stop you
E : Enjoy life !
Into the time machine again. What do you miss about being a kid?
K : This imaginary freedom
E : There seemed to be more time in a day and less things to WANT !!
Excessive chopping dulls the axe. Time-outs are a must. What do you do when you take time off from creating? Got any hobbies? (Books? Movies? TV shows?)
K : Hung out with friends go to the beach try some new food
E : friends , listening to music , nature, traveling , some tv shows
Ideology: Beliefs that bake your brain
The genie comes out of the lamp and grants you one wish that will change the world. What would you wish for?
K : Don’t want to sound cheessy … but probably it will … world peace
E : No wars , and maybe that everyone will be vegetarian (even though I eat meat sometimes . . but it would be great that just stopped for everyone just like that)
K : Listen to music
E : I think being in nature can really open that for me and get the connection easier
Do you have any belief/beliefs that you cannot do without?
K : No. Everything is replaceable
E: not really, maybe just that – anything that happens can be used for good
On the Scene:
Where do you think psytrance is headed? Future trends?
K : Got no clue the way it looks it’s just getting bigger and bigger every year
E : I hope music will just loose genres and everything will be mixed so you could hear the person and not the style that actually can feel like a set of rules , but that’s a hope I don’t know what will happen .
K : I would like to change that artist will try to dare more and stop rolling on the safe side I like to see remain the organization that are growing everywhere around the globe.
E : Change is always good , I would like everything to change always, keeps it interesting
Piracy, works out negatively for the artist, but it allows listeners’ to access music that would otherwise be hard to source. Art should be shared…in this light what are your thoughts on piracy vs. a price tag?
K : I think that there is some that still buy music(not a lot at all) but I think that if a listener download our music and it make him feel something positive so I’m happy
E : I think it’s good , we need to think of more forms of art than selling music , like videos or whatever. I don’t feel that music is getting better than it was 10 or 20 years ago anyway , but having said that . when I really enjoyed an artist album or felt this artist gave me a lot of great moments from let’s say youtube , I go ahead and buy the album , even if I have heard it a ton of times. Just to feel good .
Pearls: Words of Wisdom for reader and fans
At the end of the ride, everyone’s looking for some form of success (tangible or not), what does success mean to you?
K : Everything is relative in life someone’s success can be a fail to the other And for all who look for the success u are wasting your time create your success don’t look for it
E : Being good at what you do and feeling true and good about it .
K : Be good
E : I said it before , just have faith in the world .live like you can fall back and know that the world will catch you , its all about your mind set . avoid feeling bad about things even when it hard and know that anything that happens to you can be just a test or an obstacle on the way UP if you make it so !
What’s the best advice you have ever received?
K : Be patient and Do not judge ppl u never know what they had in the past
E : Don’t use a lot of eq , try to record good sources
One word to describe yourself, and one word to describe music.
K : I’m a really simple guy and about music music is everything that u want it to be ….
