In this segment PsyTrance people tell us about their experiences
during 25 years of Psytrance

Samaya Gorgona
How I discovered psychedelic punk
It was 2009 when I, aged 22, moved to live in Goa with my 6-months old son Marko. I was chilling and going to parties together with my child for a couple of years, and then when he was grown up enough to stay away in a local kindergarden, I started to hand-craft clothing. I was fascinated with the local jungle-gypsy style, tribal gypsy and psychedelic designer’s clothing sold at the flea Market in Anjuna and at the nightmarket. But I had something different in my vision as my background comes from punk rock and hardcore/gabber and schranz-hard techno, but I let it go along with the influence of local, Goan fashion. So this merge I understood as psychedelic punk. I started to sell my designs at local markets. And a few years later I began my performing career as an actress, so I founded the psychedelic punk theater and psypunk fetish clothing brand.

What was your favourite festival of the last 25 years – and why?
I haven’t had a chance to attend a major psytrance festival, but my best annual event in Goa is Trippy Trail party organized by Nirmal. It’s brilliant music and venue, and crowd. In the end, traditionally, Nirmal, during his own music set, burns a steel statue of a motorcycle that he manufactures himself) Also his original track named Trippy Trail is my favorite psytrance track ever!

Which artist was for you the most important Psytrance Act of the last 25 years – and why?
Shpongle, 1200 mics, Nirmal, Alex Parasense – because Shpongle are the essence of psychedelia. 1200mics were my first psytrance band I heard. Nirmal composed my fav track and party… and Parasense’s set is every time great.

Share your most intense Psytrance experience ever
I was tripping at a Goa party. And I looked in the night sky. It was full of stars. Suddenly, two stars shifted from their places, and started to move in a synchronized order. And they became bigger, so could clearly see these were spaceships. I tried to talk to them with my thinking. But they did not react. They hanged i nthe air for a while, and went with a superfast speed away, and dissolved in the dark. I think these were aliens.

Goa Trance has been, for many of us in the USA, a difficult road to follow, with many pot holes and bumps along the way. Altho I was able to get my hands on many goa records and CDs as an emerging DJ, I found myself writing trance in the basement of Space Dub Studios beginning around 1994.

Today 31.08. is our first wedding anniversary. I know you don't care for numbers and calendar... And we are in the divorce process. Our last project as MotorGang Films&Theatre hasn't been finished and it was a work of 2 years. I still hope a miracle happens and we will make this film come out. I love you so much, my dear NikkolЯ! You are the light of my life, my heart, my soul, my happiness and all good things in life for me.All I've ever been searching for, I found in you.

Hailed as an early feminist literary voice, Akka Mahadevi was born in 12 century Karnataka. As a child she was initiated into the worship of Channamallikarjuna, her village's version of Siva. She was forced to marry her region's ruler, but, because she had become so ardently devoted to the god, Akka abandoned her husband and all her possessions and wandered alone - a naked poet - saint covered only by her long hair. Her vacanas demonstrate both her radical devotion to Siva and the commitment to equality her Virasaiva poetry embodied.Today 31.08. is our first wedding anniversary.

Maksim Kornilin

Que camino tomaras ahora. Ya no habrá diseño ni ropa?
