The amazing men behind the  music of Astral Projection, give a wonderful interview that throws some light on their lives. And and their story with psytrance. Read on:

Self-Portrait of Astral Projection : Paint your soul!

What influenced you to get into your field?
10153944_10152870239758185_2120454029103428693_nWe got into making electronic music due to the mutual passion for electronic music and all its possibilities.  From 1988 onwards we were obsessed by this music from acid house and new beat to techno, trance and later Goa Trance and Psy Trance.  We had a desire to make own music where we could hear what we wanted with no compromise.  We felt we could make something, make a contribution…

As an artist, what role do you think you play in society?
Our role is to entertain and hopefully joy and fun…..to make people dance and smile…

Creating on a regular basis can be a bloody tough job,
so what motivates you to press yourself into the workstation every single day?

The continued hunger and passion….and inspiration form others, contemporaries or colleagues like Rich & Raj at Tip Records who inspire/motivate us and crack the whip to get us into the studio..haha..only joking..  BUt mainly we think the feeling that we can provide something that others are not doing so much and that many people will like.  We hope our fans love what we do and we want to create new things for them….

Do you get nervous before a performance/exhibition?
Nervous…yes but once you start and the reaction from the crowd is so good it is always a pleasure.  We love to perform for people.  We feel so blessed and happy every time.
What quality do you admire the most in others? What quality do you like about yourself the most?
Just try to be easy going…Dedication, passion, loving, friendship, generosity of spirit, good humored.

Face-off: Let’s get the grits on the table:

When have you been most satisfied in your life? Care to share one of your happiest memories?
Our kids…

Everyone starts somewhere, what was your first job before you got into music?
Was always music, but we had an ocasional dayjob when we were teens…

Flash-forward in time. You are now really old. What would you tell your children/loved ones?
Truest in trance.

Into the time machine again. What do you miss about being a kid?
The rest of the world…
Excessive chopping dulls the axe. Time-outs are a must. What do you do when you take time off from creating? Got any hobbies? (Books? Movies? TV shows?)
Funny, our hobbies are also creative, so we guees we don’t get a break from that…But yeah. Family, friends, music, movies, tv, like everyone else…
The genie comes out of the lamp and grants you one wish that will change the world. What would you wish for?
Global trancesendence.

Ideology of Astral Projection: Beliefs that bake your brain:

astral-projection-2011How do you connect to the spiritual side of yourself?
Music, Dreams…
Do you have any belief/beliefs that you cannot do without?
Not really.
At the end of the ride, everyone’s looking for some form of success (tangible or not), what does success mean to you?
It means being able to do what we love…

We are almost done. Give us a nutshell of you the life philosophy/motto/mantra that you clutch close to your heart.
Be nice, be cool, have good taste and judgment… enjoy life.

What’s the best advice you have ever received?
Don’t quit your dayjob…. Just kidding.
