Luxtra” is a Progressive Trance Project from Bielefeld in north west Germany specialized on producing mystic & atmospheric Progressive/ Psygressive.

Your life-story and relationship with your work

Tell us a little about you and your work:
I was loving music & parties ever since, but when I first came in contact with Offbeat Progressive in late 2013 I suddenly knew I had to get deeper into this kind of electronic music. A passion was born. In my childhood there was a lot of music from artists like “Kraftwerk, Tangerine Dream & Jean Michel Jarre” around me because my father was listening to them all the time. I think these artists paved the road for electronic music in Germany and their influence is deeply rooted within my mind.

Currently what projects are you working on? And what future plans have you chalked out for yourself?:
In fact I just finished a major project which was on my agenda since I started to produce in 2014: A 60 minute live set of mystic offbeat energy, which I will present in several clubs and at some open air festivals all over Germany this summer ! The debut will be in 4 days on 30th of April at “Club Charlotte” in Münster ! The following gigs will be in Wiesbaden at “Treibholz/Wasserturm” and at “Sommernachtstraum Festival” in June (Mecklenburg Vorpommern). In case of producing I will take a break in summer because I am currently writing on my master-thesis in educational science.

What influenced you to get into your field?:
Hmmm… It’s a rather funny fact. It was when a good friend of mine played the Track “Lonely Forest” by the artist Hatikwa on her phone. I had known Psytrance before but that Track hooked me up with Progressive and got me into producing somehow.

As an artist, what role do you think you play in society?:
Make people forget about things that cloud their minds for a little while and give them some quality time in front of their speakers or on the dancefloor !

You obviously love what you do…but what do you love the most about your work?:
The thing that gets me most is when I play a new track live for the first time and see an ear to ear smile on peoples faces amongst the floor crowd. It’s like a feeling of mutual understanding through the medium of music.

Creating on a regular basis can be a bloody tough job, so what motivates you to press yourself into the workstation every single day?:
I am still in a position to state that making music is more of a hobby to me and I think I am gonna keep it that way. When I get into my project studio my attempts are motivated by passion not by some kind of pressure. I am able to make the most of my creativity that way I guess…

Share your experiences and your characteristics/personality

Any embarrassing moments? Yes, you’d hate to disclose your secrets but we’d love to hear.:
When I played my first set on stage I was already using Ableton but had never touched a club mixer before. Luckily the experienced DJ playing before me was so kind to give me a short but very useful briefing. My nerves were on edge nevertheless but all went smooth and the crowd was awesome !

Everybody’s got favourites…so what’s your favourite work/piece among everything that you’ve designed/produced/dj-ed/created? (Link us up!):
Hmmm… When I have to name a Track it would be one of my first creations called “Synthindia”. It is some kind of orientally spiced up mystic Psygressive piece and people really love it on Soundcloud and live, which is still a big motivation for me.. thanks !!!

Name a few of your all time favourite tracks. (From other artists if you are producer).:
Ok here are some: Hatikwa – Different World Nitro & Glycerine – Wetti Wigga (Patara Remix) Konfuuzed – Lisbeth (Det En Dejlig Sang) Myrtox – Braindead Chorea Lux – Knecht Ruprecht Lykos – Dimethyltryptamine Tripnosis- We Are Anonymous Klopfgeister – Progwarts Nachtalb – Escape from Zenonia Sadi – Brainwash

When have you been most satisfied in your life? Care to share one of your happiest memories?:
When my brother started to recover from a serious health issue and seeing him in best shape today !

There’s a book on the shelf. It’s your autobiography. What does the title say?:
Change it, leave it or love it !

Flash-forward in time. You are now really old. What would you tell your children/loved ones?:
Find a job you love and you will never work a day in your life !

Into the time machine again. What do you miss about being a kid?:
Playing LEGO with a good friend and creating whole worlds just inside our minds. And watching Beverly Hills Cop every time after school with my brother !

Your hobbies and other fun questions

Excessive chopping dulls the axe. Time-outs are a must. What do you do when you take time off from creating? Got any hobbies?:
I hike into the woods, climb a tree and watch the sunset from there.

What’s the last movie/T.V show you saw or book/magazine you read?:
At the moment I play “GTA V” and I have to admit: It’s a game, a movie, a book and a music ensemble all at the same time. In addition to that the last series I watched was “Vikings”.

The genie comes out of the lamp and grants you one wish that will change the world. What would you wish for?:
Unity !
