The Mayan concept of time knows 13 repeating phases, shaping our existence into waves of ups and downs. At first there is a thought, emotion or idea, and so we experience life through reflecting and refining. Sometimes, we may even need to change our paths and go another way.
In times where the Psytrance dog is biting its tail sound-wise, it’s probably a good idea to re-connect with the roots. Thankfully, Kris Kylven, drummer and co-founder of the legendary UX, has now devoted himself to do just that. Having wandered through the Gothic and Chill orbit for 18 years, he could re-unite with old friends and fellow producers from the Psytrance scene at the ZNA Gathering 2015. The Portugal-based festival is renowned for bridging the gap between old and new elements of Goa and Psy to allow the ultimate out-of-time experience. Using the impact force of that (Neo-)Goa spirit, Kris released his new mix “Space Time Continuum” in January. The psychedelic full-on injection contains a virus that gives us the shivers while keeping us in a constant déjà-vu mode. It knocks us off our feet, and so we’re lured in by the energetic soundscapes of chaos and cosmos.
