As a sponge cannot help but soak up water, likewise an empath not just feels but also absorbs other people’s emotions/physical symptoms. Sounds like a cool gift to have? Not always.

Living as an empath in modern society can be a challenge, more so if you don’t know you are one. The first step is to discover if you display symptoms experienced by those classified as empaths.

Living as an empath in modern society can be a challenge, more so if you don’t know you are one. The first step is to discover if you display symptoms experienced by those classified as empaths.

Do you feel drained by certain people or feel unbearably sad for no particular reason? Do you feel the emotions of people around you? Do you have premonitions, predictive dreams, and can sense future events? Is your perception of people’s characters accurate? Can you calm people by sensing and then recalibrating their emotional systems? If your answer is yes, then the chances of you being an empath is pretty high.

The highly sensitive nature of an empath enables you to know exactly what’s wrong with the other person, and as they say, if the disease is known, it’s easier to find a cure – this can act as blessing for the other person, but not necessarily for the empath. If an empath is not careful, they can end up as emotional wrecks.

It pays to protect yourself – spend time in nature, meditate, practice energy clearing techniques, avoid people that drain your energy. If you feel upset, always question if the emotions are your own or belong to another. Remember, if you embrace your gift, you can use it to heal not just yourself, but those around you, so stay strong!
