SKYFALL is the Progressive Trance project of Daniel Aka MENOG.
He’s been heavily into music since childhood. After having played guitar and drums in his Metal Band in early 90s, he got introduced to underground Electronic Music scene in Portugal around ’95. His first visit to the Boom Festival in 1998 inspired him to start his own project MENOG.
In 2002, Dani released his first album “Natural Behavior” as MENOG and has been rocking parties allover the globe ever since.
In 2013 Daniel decides to explore the more spaced and slower side of Psychedelic Trance and formed SKYFALL; the name inspired by his passion for skydiving.
His First EP was Released on Sourcecode rec , “Higher Self” was 17th on top 100 on Beatport.
Dani joined NANO rec just after the release of his first EP
His “Not Quite Human” EP was released on NANO November 2013 and reached 7th Place on Beatport.
His third EP “Freefall” came out at Iono Music and Reached number 5 at TOP 100 .
His Full album on Nano Records was released May 2014 and reached number 1 on Beatport and Psyhop on CD sales,this was a Remix album from classical tracks like “Reload” from Deedrah, “Vicious Cycles” from Astrix “51” from Ace Ventura and Timelock, “Dustortion” from LOUD, etc…
SKYFALL stands for massive, driving Progressive grooves that take the dancefloor on a journey, a perfect balance between cybersonic soundscapes and human musicality/emotions.

Your life-story and relationship with your work

Tell us a little about you and your work:
im Daniel, been a musician since early 90´s, played guitar and drums on a Metal band, started to listen to electronic music in 95, Boom festival 1998 made me want to be on stage playing trance for people.

Currently what projects are you working on? And what future plans have you chalked out for yourself?:
i have my 2 main projects, Skyfall and Menog, working on my Skyfall album to be released next year on Nano records, many many music on the way….

What influenced you to get into your field?:
Boom festival, Infected mushroom, Tim Schuldt , Dino psaras back in the days.

As an artist, what role do you think you play in society?:
to give everyone a piece of my mind, my music expresses what i feel the moment im producing it, tells everyone a little bit about me and how im am, as an artist its my duty to make people dance like there is no tomorrow!

You obviously love what you do…but what do you love the most about your work?:
the fact that i get to travel around the world and meet all the most amazing and craziest people on earth, and on top of that i can live from my work, my music!

Creating on a regular basis can be a bloody tough job, so what motivates you to press yourself into the workstation every single day?:
when my inspiration is gone, i just take a break from the studio, 1 , 2 , 3 weeks, whatever it takes for me to have the small “bug” in me to create something new. Travel also helps, when i play in a amazing festival it gives me strength and motivation to come back to the studio once i get back home.

Everybody has to start somewhere, usually at the bottom of the ladder, either as the bus-boy or the shoe-shiner. What was the very first job you had?:
i was in construction, building houses… needed the money to go to a techno festival back in 95…

What is your second love? What’s the alternative career path you would have travelled if you were not on the one you are right now?:
movie industry! making music for movies and much more…

Share your experiences and your characteristics/personality

No man is an island’- they say, in this light, what quality do you admire the most in others?:
i would say i´m professional in every single thing i do.

Sometimes life can be quite a – insert word that rhymes with witch. Which phase was the hardest/scariest in your life?:
snich! when i took my skydive licence, was probably my most intense week.

Any embarrassing moments? Yes, you’d hate to disclose your secrets but we’d love to hear.:
swimming in the ocean, lost my shorts, got back to shore fully naked.

Everybody’s got favourites…so what’s your favourite work/piece among everything that you’ve designed/produced/dj-ed/created? (Link us up!):
i really liked what i´ve done on my first Skyfall album (Regenerate) released on Nano records this summer…. i worked on every track hours and hours to make the most diferent album i´ve done so far…every single track is a remix… but very different from the original track…every single track is different from each other. i was really happy with the final result!

When have you been most satisfied in your life? Care to share one of your happiest memories?:
when i did my first Wingsuit jump.

been always terrible with jokes…. can´t remember one single one.

There’s a book on the shelf. It’s your autobiography. What does the title say?:
the book of my life

Flash-forward in time. You are now really old. What would you tell your children/loved ones?:
travel, travel alot!

Into the time machine again. What do you miss about being a kid?:
the fact that we could get away with everything.

Your hobbies and other fun questions

Excessive chopping dulls the axe. Time-outs are a must. What do you do when you take time off from creating? Got any hobbies?:
Skydiving! jumping out of planes is my favorite thing!Flying with only my body and a parachute!

At the end of the ride, everyone’s looking for some form of success (tangible or not), what does success mean to you?:
means, i´ve achieved what i´ve been working all these years, most rewarding thing i can feel.
