This is another questionaire response from mushroom magazines 25 years of Psytrance survey.

PsyTrance people tell us about their experiences during 25 years of Psytrance

“Big thanks for all your support of the psychedelic community over all those years and good luck & full support for your digital future!”

What was your favourite festival of the last 25 years and why?
Ozora, because it is the most musically versatile and colourful festival in the psy world, they connect the various musical dots that are releated to the world of psychedelic arts and bring them together on the spot.

Which artist was for you the most important Psytrance Act of the last 25 years and why?
Youth, because he started the 1st psychedelic trance label Dragonfly and with its sound represented the very early psytrance music to a wider audience and encouraged others to do so as well…Juno Reactor for staying alive and vivid and creative since the very early 90ties when i discovered their debut album Transmissions on Mute Records.

Share your most intense Psytrance experience ever?
All the parties in Goa from 88 to 93 were really magic since all was new and fresh and exciting and evolving right in front of us.

Did you have a special experience with mushroom magazine that you would like to share with us?
Thanks for all the good reviews on my Spirit Zone Rec. releases and on BlueRoomReleased with Saafi Brothers, all the good features and passion you obviously put into your work for more that 2 decades, big respect & love ❤

Share your favourite photo(s) of the last 25 years
Since i do not take photos when i perform i got more flyer of the gigs i played than photos – see selection:

Tell us about your current project, SAAFI BROTHERS
I started performing in bands & DJing at young age in 1982 and releasing records since 1990 on vinyl, CD and finally also digitally.
My solo albums were released on Spirit Zone Rec (thanks Antaro!), Corn rec and E-lux (formely know as Elektrolux Rec. where i was a forming member).
I did coops with Pete Namlook, Dr. Motte, Pascal Feos, Mike Maguire, The Rootsman, and worked on remixes for Carbon Based Lifeforms, Suns of Arqa, A-ha, Ich+Ich, Thomas D, Pascal Feos, Eric Sneo, Earl16, The Rootsman, The Delta, Anne Clark, Sven Väth, Air Liquide, Camouflage, Bob Marley, a.o.
For more info see also on my web site.

I formed Saafi Brothers in 1993 as an open artist project and in the 25 years there had been many members and guests joining the project such as Michael Kohlbecker, Groovetitan, Alex Azary, Mike Maguire, Luca Anzilotti, George Din, Jasmin Pour, Dea Li, Clair Dietrich, Patrizia v.U., Marcus Busch a.o.
We started making remixes for Air Liquide, Camouflage, Bob Marley, B-Zet, Die Fantastischen Vier, KoxBox, Jam&Spoon – and realized we got a sound that needs to be expressed in an album – the result was our debut album “Mystic Cigarettes” followed by “Midnight’s Children” on BlueRoomReleased. We released another 3 albums after on labels like Iboga and our current longplayer & remixes are out on Youth’s label imprint L.S.D. (Liquid Sound Design Records UK). Our next release on L.S.D. will be a remix album of our fist LP “Mystic Cigarettes” with remixes by Youth, Ajja, Braincell, DM-Theory, X-Dream, The Delta, Eternal Basement, Koan, Kalumet, Jammin Unit, Dr. Motte, a.o.
2018 had been a highlight in our bandhistory since we were invited to play the opening of the Ozora festival live on the main stage which had been an overwhelming experience for us…our new project with members of Saafi Brothers in it is “Backstage Gurus” – the album is about to be finished…the future looks bright 🙂

In my solo works i tend to be more eclectic and work on whatever i feel that i have to do: i finished an ambient solo album without beats, an experimental electronic music album with Dr. Motte “Radiacal Chill Out” that will be out on the american outlet Carpe Sonum Records, finished my Psychedelic Techno Project EP and videos for it, working on new tracks with Marcello from M-Theory, and produce new music with Dr.Motte & Jörn Elling-Wuttke (Alter Ego, Acid Jesus).

Goa Trance has been, for many of us in the USA, a difficult road to follow, with many pot holes and bumps along the way. Altho I was able to get my hands on many goa records and CDs as an emerging DJ, I found myself writing trance in the basement of Space Dub Studios beginning around 1994.

It was 2009 when I, aged 22, moved to live in Goa with my 6-months old son Marko. I was chilling and going to parties together with my child for a couple of years, and then when he was grown up enough to stay away in a local kindergarden, I started to hand-craft clothing.

I can tell a lot of things the last 25years of Psytrance, which i lived and shared entirely. It started from a Rave in a forest or in old farm, grew from experimental to underground and now we can say it is a standard.
