Dear Dr. Goa…,
Since my friends returned from their South America backpacking adventure, they are really into Ayahuasca. Actually I find it quite interesting myself, tried it a few times already. But I get the impression that these friends are getting more and more serious, patronizing and arrogant, they say the jungle medicine would be the solution for everything – everyday stress, back pain, money problems. It’s kind of religious, almost fanatical. As I said: Actually I find Ayahuasca quite interesting. But I don’t want to turn into such a person! Is that normal?
There’s always a missionary aspect to enlightenment. Because the shadow of ignorance is even darker in the golden light of enlightenment. It’s kind of tricky to become enlightened and to just shut up and smile. Well, apparently that Buddha dude managed to do so. In the end your friends just want to help you. It’s not their fault that they come across like your parents on the second day of your Christmas family reunion.
