Your life-story and relationship with your work
Tell us a little about you and your work:
Im Jahr 1988 konnte man Ixdream zum ersten Mal im Fernsehen über die Schulter schauen. Hier zeigte er live in einer lokalen Sendung, dass man mit einem kleinen Personal Computer und gut ausgewählten, gesampelten Instrumenten einen Song arrangieren kann. Während dieser Zeit rockte Ixdream zusammen mit DJ Fräggel und Jürgen Mutschall (bekannt als Mitproduzent des Projektes “DuMonde”) den Dancefloor der Koblenzer Discothek “Extra-Dry”, einer der größten deutschen Discotheken seiner Zeit. Gleichzeitig hat Ixdream Soundtracks für Computergraphiken, Demos und die Intro-Szene produziert. Im Sommer 2001 lernte IXDREAM den SWR3 DJ “JAN GARCIA” kennen. Jan remixte kurze Zeit darauf in einer Nacht den Track “Pathfinder”.
Nach einer Veröffentlichung im Internet gab es wieder nur ein Feedback: Ein Knaller! Im Mai 2003 wurde dann der Song – “VOICES FROM THE OCEAN” von BUFFALO UNIVERSAL PRODUCTIONS LTD in London für eine interaktive Presentation über die Funktionsweise des menschlichen Gehirns an der UFA Universität Birmingham lizensiert. Im Herbst 2003 unterschrieb IXDREAM zusammen mit DJ.T Urban einen Plattenvertrag für den Titel “KRAFTBEAT” bei dem Label Dance Connection. Kraftbeat erschien kurze Zeit darauf auf gleich 2 Techno CD Samplern in den Läden. “German DJ Top 40 / Universal” und “Techno Top 100 / DA, Music – Deutsche Austrophon” Nach diesen ersten Erfolgen und den großartigen Feedback der Fans im weltweiten Internet und der Radiosender entschloss er sich zum Bau eines eigenen Tonstudios und ging zeitgleich in ganz Deutschland mit etablierten und erfolgreichen Show-Produktionen als technischer Assistent für Ton/Licht und als Crewleiter an den Start, um sich für das Studio das nötige Kleingeld zu verdienen.
Er knüpfte Kontakte zu hochkarätigen und erfahrenen Tonleuten und Musikern der Showbranche, und setzte die gemachten Erfahrungen und viele Tips im Technik-Setup des Studio´s um. Unter anderem arbeitete er für Madonna, Nena, Bap, Copperfield, Wetten Dass ?, Tokio Hotel, Nature One, Mayday, HR3-Clubnight, Mercedes-Benz, Nato und auch für die Politik in mehr als 300 Produktionen mit. Ein Highlight ist ebenso die Umsetzung des Nature One MainFloors mit Licht und Ton, da sein musikalisches Herz seit den frühen 90ern für die elektronische Musik und der damit eng verbundenen Musik-Szene schlägt. Nach und nach interessierten sich auch immer mehr kleine und große Music und Kultur Magazine wie Techno.de Beatcounter, Mushroom-Magazine oder auch die im Rheinland stark etablierte Rhein-Zeitung für seine Arbeit und berichteten über Ixdream. Radiosender wie Sunshine Live, You FM, und unzählige nationale und internationale Radio-Streams spielen seine Songs. Durch seine musikalischen Aktivitäten und nicht zuletzt durch viele Engagements für die Club und Festival Szene hat sich IXDREAM einen Platz in der Trance-Hall-of-Fame gesichert und erreichte bis heute mehr als 5 Millionen Musik-Fans mit seiner Musik.
Ein kommerzieller Hintergrund war nie sein Motivationshintergrund. Im Gegenteil, eine bescheidene Musikseele mit dem Engagement zu einer perfekten wohlklingenden Komposition, für Dance, Pop, Film,und Werbung,die bei jedem Musikfan eine Berührung mit der Sehle und der Fantasie zustande kommen läßt. Currently what projects are you working on? And what future plans have you chalked out for yourself?
A celtic music trilogy EP with celtic spiritual lyrics, vokals, and Instrument setup in a modern uplifitng style is in work and also the 4th remix from HOUSEMOPS out of a 80´s will be realised. Currently I am thinking which song it could be. Another activity is to be present on the Sunshine-Live Radio Station Germany, featuring own new tracks and also tracks of other talented Uptrax Community Producers.
What influenced you to get into your field?
Shiny happy people on the dancfloors and clubs at smal and big events around germany, holland and austria. Chilly Club ambients at the beach.
As an artist, what role do you think you play in society?
Let the music play and lets talk about it everywhere. Let the good vibes play. I am a producer, bringing light and sound together with like-mided other artists.
You obviously love what you do…but what do you love the most about your work?
The most i love is that great feedback from around the dance scene and that feeling to be a part of it. Thanks to you all!
Creating on a regular basis can be a bloody tough job, so what motivates you to press yourself into the workstation every single day?
Oh i think its not every day and i allways use to take time to get out of it.
Everybody has to start somewhere, usually at the bottom of the ladder, either as the bus-boy or the shoe-shiner. What was the very first job you had?
My first creative job was arranging music for the 64ér & Amiga Intro Game Scene in the 80´s followed by a job as a light jay working with one of the greatest disco-laser-system in Germany for 3 years.
What is your second love? What’s the alternative career path you would have travelled if you were not on the one you are right now?
Creativity goes hand in hand with technic and business.
